So, after staying up until 6am working at my Dad's office last night, I got to sleep at 7 am. That sort of sucked.

But today made up for it. First, I spent time relaxing with a friend for a few hours. Then, my Dad picked me up and took me to the bragging rights game between Mizzou and Illinois, which Illinois won 81-50 (the largets margin in the history of the rivalry). I dressed orange and blue, and felt justified in doing this because I have been going to Illini games since I was about 4. Plus, isn't the virtue of my decision sort of self-evident in the score?

Then this evening, I remembered to check Teach For America:

"Dear Jonathon,
I am pleased to extend you an offer to join the Teach For America 2006 corps! The entire staff and over 10,000 distinguished alumni of Teach For America join me in welcoming you to our movement.
This offer to join Teach For America reflects both your outstanding accomplishments and your potential to move students to achieve. Your track record of achievement, ability to persevere in the face of challenges, and strong critical thinking skills will surely contribute to your success as a teacher during your two-year teaching commitment and in any career you eventually pursue.
Effecting dramatic, measurable gains in students' academic achievement is an incredibly challenging pursuit given the obstacles facing students and teachers in our nation's lowest income communities. You have demonstrated great potential to excel as a teacher despite these challenges and to ultimately assume great influence in our country. We now invite you to make this commitment and take our effort forward."

I still have to hear back about my regional, grade level, and subject placement, but I am very happy to have been accepted in the meanwhile!
