Subject: Disappointed
To whom it may concern:
When looking through my phone book recently, I found an advertisement that was placed by your office. The ad featured a semblance of a marijuana leaf, with the copy "It makes you respond to 'hey stupid' ten seconds slower." As a magna cum laude graduate with a BJ in advertising who has been accepted into the master's sequence at my university, and as a frequent marijuana user, I find your placement insulting.
I generally support your efforts, however misguided I might consider them to be. However, this ad, which I am betting was placed at the national level in a media with a long shelf-life, is nothing more than insinuation and namecalling. I expect better. As a tax-paying, otherwise law-abiding citizen, I ask that you focus your effort on informing, rather than insulting.
As an aside - if I responded ten seconds more slowly to the call of "hey stupid," it would be because I was not aware that I was the person being addressed. Marijuana users aren't generally stupid and slow, and I urge you to consciously consider this when crafting your future campaign materials.
Feels disrespected unnecessarily,
Jonthon Coulson
P.S. Please also consider that every commissioned study ever conducted in this country has found that our nation would be best off to decriminalize marijuana, and move toward institutional rehabilitation, as opposed to incarceration. I hope, at some point in my lifetime, the governmental officials who oversee your agency will acknowledge that everything you do is misleading and a move in the wrong direction.|||112577840392338447|||FU, PDFA
